Celebrate the first day of summer and the return of live music at the first-ever Make Music Englewood taking place on Monday, June 21st beginning at 5:00 pm. This family-friendly celebration of music features musicians from Bergen County and beyond and highlights musical talent by local legends and students and faculty from Bergen Community College.
Sponsored by the Englewood Public Library, Bergen Community College and the Englewood Parks and Recreation Department, Make Music Englewood is North New Jersey’s installment of Make Music Day, a worldwide celebration held every June 21st in over 1,000 locations in 120 countries, modeled after La Fête de la Musique which began in the 1980s to showcase the rich musical culture of Paris. This inaugural Englewood edition will feature a curated main stage showcasing a melting pot of musical genres at the Englewood Public Library at 31 Engle Street between 5:00 pm and 10:00 pm, as well as additional stages at Veterans Memorial Park and McKay Park offering open access for musicians who wish to participate.
An open mic event will be held at Black Box Performing Arts Center, 49 E. Palisade Avenue in Englewood after the concert beginning at 10:00 pm. Like all Make Music Day events, Make Music Englewood is free and open to the public.

Make Music Englewood Library Stage Lineup
The Shop Dogz will kick off the evening with their original, updated take on ‘50s era rockabilly beginning at 5:00 pm.
At 5:30 pm, RnA will play songs of yesteryear from Motown to Led Zeppelin. Iliad will perform music from their forthcoming EP, For Us To Be featuring a ‘70s classic rock sound influenced by a variety of genres including jazz, punk, funk, Latin, country, and classical.
Ginny Lackey and the Hi-Fi Band, an alternative pop/rock group will take the stage at 6:30 pm performing originals by Ginny Lackey and guitarist Dan Tineo, as well as a wide range of covers from classic rock and blues to R&B and pop.
At 7:00 pm the Richard Reiter Afro-Jazz Project perform music focused on contemporary jazz blended with Afro-Pop influences, based on Richard’s trip to Dakar, Senegal, where he performed his saxophone and flute with Senegalese bands and studied African drumming.
Divinity & the BCC Crew, fronted by singer/songwriter Divinity Montijo, will take the stage at 8:15 performing original material along with favorite pop and R&B hits.
At 8:45 pm, Bergen Community College professors Andy Krikun and Dan Sheehan will join forces with a band being dubbed The Absent-Minded Professors, presenting music from their recent and forthcoming releases.
Krikun’s forthcoming EP with his band Andy and the Rattlesnakes – Last Chance Mission -features their signature sound mixing of rock n’ roll and rhythm & blues with folk and world music. Sheehan’s selections from his 2019 album Tales from Earth Incorporated focus on raising awareness on climate change and other environmental and human rights issues with compelling lyrics fueled by surprisingly catchy grooves.
The final performance of the evening will take place at 9:30 pm with Englewood’s own Carolyn Enger, performing solo piano pieces from her conceptual show Resonating Earth, a cinematic concert collaboration combining beautiful music from the Baroque period to the present with contemplative natural imagery. Resonating Earth inspires reflection, awareness of our place in the world, and recognition of our responsibility to the planet.
In the event of rain, the Englewood Public Library will reschedule its performances for Monday, June 28th.
