The Mahwah Museum will present a series of online concerts and conversation in honor of Les Paul’s 105th birthday. The virtual events take place Saturday, June 6th through Tuesday, June 9th and will feature Lou Pallo, Muriel Anderson, Thom Bresh, Gene Paul and Charlie Carreras.
The first concert in the series with Thom Bresh will be held on Saturday, June 6th from 5:30 pm-6:30 pm. The concert can be viewed on the Mahwah Museum Facebook Page or on YouTube. Thom Bresh was born in Hollywood, California and raised in the middle of guitar royalty. His father, Merle Travis, was one of the most influential American guitarist of the 20th Century. With this sort of heritage and upbringing, what do you have? As Chet Atkins put it, “Thom Bresh is a “World Class” guitarist that deserves to be heard.”
Muriel Anderson will perform a 45-minute set on Saturday, June 6th beginning at 7:00 pm. Harp-guitarist and former National Fingerstyle Guitar Champion, Muriel is host of the annual All Star Guitar Night, where she co-hosted a show with Les Paul at the Ryman auditorium. Lou Pallo will perform on Sunday, June 7th from 4:00 pm-5:00 pm. Pallo played regularly with Les for over 30 years at Fat Tuesdays and The Iridium. In an interview, Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, described Lou as an incredible guitar player and the man who knows a million chords. In addition to Les, Lou’s early influences included Tony Mottola. Lou has worked with a wide variety of celebrities from Sammy Davis Jr., Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald to Mr. Richards himself. A conversation with Gene Paul, the son of the legendary musician and guitar innovator, Les Paul will be held on Tuesday, June 9th at 7:00 pm. Gene will share stories of his father with moderator Charlie Carreras, Vice President, Mahwah Museum, Professor Emeritus of History, Ramapo College. This is a Zoom event and registration is required.
