First Flight Theatre Company based in Ridgewood, New Jersey, has been livestreaming a series of one-act plays which started in October with the Plays of Revolution Series. The series will continue with A Vampire Kiss in the Plague of 1666 by James Fitzmaurice. The proceeds from this reading will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fight Aids.
A Vampire Kiss in the Plague of 1666 is timely in this age of pandemic and draws immediate parallels between our current times and the London plague. Produced by Frank Farrell, directed by Karen Eterovich, stage managed by Abby Farber with PowerPoint and Sound Design by Richard Width, A Vampire Kiss in the Plague of 1666 will be performed live on Sunday, November 15th at 2:00 pm here. The performance will be rebroadcast on Thursday, November 19th at 2:00 pm here and at 7:00 pm here.
Dr. James Fitzmaurice is a leading authority on Margaret Cavendish, a character in this play, and a well published author with books including Major Women Writers of Seventeenth Century England (University of Michigan Press, USA), Margaret Cavendish: Sociable Letters (Broadview Press, Canada), and Cavendish and Shakespeare, Interconnections (with Katherine Romack, Ashgate Press, UK).
The cast of this benefit for Broadway Cares of A Vampire Kiss in the Plague of 1666 stars Sean Anglin, Karen Eterovich, Frank Farrell, Denise Hurd, Julia Morgantini and Richard Width. This benefit features performing union members and is presented by special arrangement with the unions’ theatre authority. Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is an American nonprofit organization that raises funds for AIDS-related causes across the United States, headquartered in New York City. It is the theatre community’s response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
