Bergen County's Martha Byrne recently received an Emmy nomination from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for Outstanding Short Format Daytime, for her original web series, Gotham (www.GothamTheSeries.com).
Byrne has already received two Emmys, one for Outstanding Ingenue in 1987 and Outstanding Lead Actress in 2001. She is best known for her role as Lily Snyder on As the World Turns on CBS-TV for almost 20 years.
Martha Byrne will be appearing at the NJ Women's Good Living Festival & 5K Run on June 4th at Bergen Community College in Paramus, New Jersey. She will be available to sign autographs, and will present entertainment from Full Circle Talent Group, her talent academy, also located in Paramus.
Byrne has an illustrious career in the entertainment industry, spanning three decades. Her career started in the play Annie on Broadway at the age of ten. At age 15 she started her role on As The World Turns. Over her thirty year career she has appeared in several prime time TV shows, feature films and television movies and has received several awards for her work.
After leaving As the World Turns in 2008, Byrne became a script writer for the Bold and the Beautiful, appeared on General Hospital and produced the award winning short film, "Bye Bye Sally" starring Malin Ackerman.
Byrne is also an accomplished singer/songwriter with two successful CD’s, the self-titled “Martha Byrne” and “The Other Side”, which featured songs she performed on "As the World Turns".
This year, she opened up a talent development company and academy in Paramus with a childhood friend, music producer Mario Costabile. The company, "Full Circle Talent Group,” provides schooling in various aspects of show business and manages talent. Byrne is also a Professional Advisory Board member for St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital. She holds a key role in raising the 600 million dollars needed to keep the hospital running.
She will be appearing off-Broadway in July in an original play entitled “Coffee Club”.
The 2010 Daytime Emmy awards will be take place in Las Vegas and will be broadcast on CBS-TV on June 19, 2011.
