Teaneck Public Library Events: The Friends of the Teaneck Public Library will present a Cinco de Mayo concert by Rana Santacruz on Sunday, May 5th at 2:00 pm, in the library auditorium.
A Mexico City native living in Brooklyn, Santacruz is considered one of the artists currently redefining the sound of Mexican-American music. His music, sometimes called “Mexican Bluegrass” or “Irish Mariachi,” starts in Ireland, runs through Appalachia, swings through New Orleans, and careens across most of Mexico.
Instead of his usual six-piece band, Santacruz and his accordion will be joined by violinist, Karolyn Bethke, and bass player, Sam Weber, for this intimate Cinco de Mayo performance.
The auditorium opens for members of the Friends of the Teaneck Public Library at 1:30 pm and for the general public at 1:45 pm. The event begins with a very brief meeting for the election of officers for the Friends of the Teaneck Library. Following the concert, guests will enjoy refreshments with a Mexican flavor.
The Teaneck Public Library is located at 840 Teaneck Road and is open from 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm on Sundays.
