The Ridgewood Run

It wouldn’t be Memorial Day in Bergen County without the Ridgewood Run!

The Ridgewood Run is the premier road race in northern New Jersey and one of the longest-running races in the tri-state area. The Ridgewood Run takes place on Monday, May 25, and includes a 10K, 5K, 1 Mile Run and a Kids Fun Run. Choose one, or run them all! After the run, enjoy a festive finish-line celebration featuring a beer garden and kids’ activities.

L.E.A.D. Fest Carnival at Garden State Plaza in Paramus

Nothing says family fun like a night out at a local carnival! Hosted by Law Enforcement Against Drugs & Violence (L.E.A.D.), the Carnival features rides, food, games, and more, all for a great cause. The Carnival runs from Friday, May 22-Sunday, June 7.

Bergen County Audubon Society Walk at Teaneck Creek

Get out and enjoy the great outdoors this Memorial Day weekend with a late May walk at Teaneck Creek Conservancy on Saturday, May 23, at 10:00 am. Enjoy a guided walk while you look and listen for birds, insects, and wildlife.

Memorial Day at Fort Lee Historic Park

Spend Memorial Day afternoon at Fort Lee Historic Park with live music, a classic war film, and scenic views overlooking the Hudson River. The event takes place on Monday, May 25, from 1:00 pm–4:30 pm and begins with a live performance by Thaddeus McGregor from 1:00 pm–2:00 pm at the Visitor Center. At 2:30 pm, enjoy a free screening of the 1951 film Halls of Montezuma in the Visitor Center auditorium. It’s a unique way to spend Memorial Day while reflecting on history at one of Bergen County’s most historic locations.

Bat Walk in Ridgefield Park

Spend an evening learning about the bats that share our skies. On Sunday, May 24, the Ridgefield Park Environmental Commission will host a guided “Bat Walk” led by New Jersey’s own bat specialist, Joseph D’Angeli. The rain date is Sunday, June 7.

The walk takes place in Ridgefield Park, but the exact location is kept private to protect and preserve the local bat colony. Space is limited and the exact meeting point is shared only with registrants. Registration to attend this event is required. To reserve your spot and receive the location, email [email protected]. Open House Sundays at Garretson Forge & Farm in Fair Lawn

Bring the family out for an afternoon of history at the Garretson Forge & Farm Open House on Sunday, May 24, from 1:00 pm-4:00 pm. Enjoy guided tours of the homestead, an example of Dutch Colonial architecture built in the 1700s, and gardens.

Cedar Lane Family Festival

Enjoy the unofficial start of summer at the Cedar Lane Family Festival in Teaneck. In addition to paying tribute to our veterans, this annual event features good old-fashioned family fun with activities for the kids, food, exhibitors, and more!

The Festival takes place on Monday, May 25, from 12:00 pm-6:00 pm on Cedar Lane, between American Legion Drive and Elm Avenue, in Teaneck, New Jersey. Admission and parking are free.
