Temple Beth Rishon is an unaffiliated egalitarian temple with a warm, energetic, and musical congregation made up of individuals and families from diverse Jewish backgrounds.

Temple Beth Rishon (“Rishon”) is a warm, inclusive, and musical congregation made up of individuals and families from diverse Jewish backgrounds. Our egalitarian approach appeals to a broad spectrum of families, whether they seek to continue a spiritually strong foundation in faith, or desire to feel more culturally connected to their Jewish traditions. We are anchored to our Jewish heritage while we seek to ensure that our community remains relevant and meaningful to future generations. Our diverse congregation embraces the values of open-minded acceptance. Everyone connected to Judaism whether born Jewish, have chosen to be Jewish, or are part of an interfaith family will find a comfortable home to become involved, welcomed, and supported in their Jewish faith. As an unaffiliated synagogue, Rishon appeals to people who identify with both Conservative and Reform movements. Our use of vocal and instrumental music enhances our engaging services that blend traditional and contemporary approaches to prayer. We are drawn together through inspiring musical worship and intellectual curiosity.

Our passion for Jewish learning and connection is evident in our active educational programs. Rishon’s educational programs for children, teens and adults meet in a bright, recently renovated education wing. We welcome students into our preschool at the earliest ages and enjoy watching them graduate into our religious school as they continue their Jewish educational journey toward becoming Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and beyond. We offer robust adult education programming with meaningful opportunities for lifelong learning, thoughtful discussion, and leadership. Each program is thoughtfully planned to meet the needs of all who participate and is taught by seasoned professionals.

In addition, holiday celebrations and observation include congregational festival meals, candle-lighting ceremonies, carnivals, concerts and more. The Community Outreach and Caring Committees provide members with active opportunities for tikkun olam with projects targeting community needs. Our planned activities and annual traditions draw our temple community closer and provide support to all of our members. As we learn, teach, live, and pray together, we build a joyful and proud connection to Judaism and each other that extends beyond our building’s walls.
