Master Gardener Marie Hayes will launch the Garden Club of Harrington Park's 2017- 2018 season with a slideshow program titled "The Golden Age of Gardening" on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 7:30 pm at the Harrington Park Library, 10 Herring Street, Harrington Park, New Jersey.
Be Transported to Victorian Era
Ms. Hayes will transport her audience back to the Victorian era when gardens were filled with colorful hollyhocks, lilacs, blush roses, flowering wisteria, and masses of geraniums and snapdragons. Her presentation depicts American gardening during the period of 1836 to 1901, illustrated by great historical estates such as the Harriet Beecher Stowe House, the Vanderbilt Mansion and the Mohonk Mountain House.
As the proprietor of Gardens Unlimited and the former head gardener at White Flower Farm, Marie has specialized in perennial borders and cutting gardens for over 25 years. Her professional landscaping consultations have taken her to New York, Florida, Delaware and Connecticut. She has also created and installed a garden along the Nile River in Luxor, Egypt.
The program will be followed by a Q & A session and refreshments.
All gardeners active or armchair, from alltowns, are welcome.
