Women’s History Celebration at Historic New Bridge Landing

Step back in time and celebrate Women’s History Month at Historic New Bridge Landing in River Edge, NJ. Join the Bergen County Historical Society on Sunday, March 23, from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm for an afternoon honoring the contributions of women throughout history.

Eliza and Erik Lichack will bring the past to life inside the 1752 Steuben House at 2:00 pm, with a special program on 18th-century women’s fashion, cosmetics, and haircare, followed by a musical performance featuring works by female composers and performers of the era.

View new displays including selections from the Society’s sampler and needlework collections, alongside Revolutionary War and Bergen County artifacts, and check out the basket weaving and sewing demonstrations by costumed interpreters throughout the day.

Visit the Jersey Dutch out-kitchen, where interpreters will prepare hot milk cake, sorghum cookies, berry cobbler, and rice pudding, using historic African American recipes and selections from the 1886 Suffrage Cookbook.

There will be family-friendly activities too! Kids and families can weave potholders and participate in a QR code scavenger hunt with prizes.

Stop by the tavern for refreshments available for purchase, and browse unique finds in the gift shop.
