NJ Young Birders Club at DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst

On Saturday, March 8, from 9:00 am-12:00 pm, young nature enthusiasts (ages 11-17) and their parents/guardians are invited to explore DeKorte Park, an urban oasis teeming with wintering waterfowl, gulls, and birds of prey.

The wetlands and uplands of DeKorte can provide an excellent birding experience where a wide range of species including geese, ducks, gulls, and raptors may be viewed. Patches of trees and shrubs provide refuge for landbirds. Some birds you’ll search for include ducks such as Norther Shoveler, Green-winged Teal, Canvasback; plus a chance for a rare gull and raptors like Northern Harrier, American Kestkrel, Bald Eagle, and Peregrine Falcon.

Participants should dress warmly and be prepared for a leisurely three-hour walk, led by Scott Barnes and Mary Birrer, over flat terrain. DeKorte Park is located at One DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst, New Jersey. Find more information and register for the event here.
