The Ridgefield Park Environmental Commission invites residents to its annual Every Day is Earth Day celebration on Saturday, May 30, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The free community event will feature live animal programs, interactive science demonstrations, music, fishing, environmental exhibits, vendors, activities for kids, and more throughout the day.
Scheduled programs include:
10:45 am — Snakes N Scales: Strange World of Reptiles
See and touch live snakes, lizards, and turtles — local and exotic — including a 5–6 ft boa constrictor.
12:00 pm — Mad Science: Earth Day Every Day
This interactive 45-minute science show features exciting demonstrations involving fire, combustion, and dry ice.
1:15 pm — The Wild Life: Bats, Bats, Bats
NJ’s “Batman,” Joe D’Angeli, presents a live bat program exploring the important role bats play in the environment.
2:00 pm — Tenafly Nature Center: Remarkable Raptors
Meet a live hawk and owl while learning more about birds of prey and their habitats.
The event also includes free face painting, all-day fishing with the Hudson River Fishermen’s Association, live music by Mark Rust, honey from Werf’s Bees, environmental exhibits, the Sea Turtle Recovery table where you can learn about sea turtle rehabilitation, the NJ DEP Wildlife Mobile Education Trailer, and raffles.
Participating organizations and vendors include the Bergen 4-H Club, BCUA, Board of Recreation, Bogota Green Team, Community Gardens, DPW, Environmental Commission & Nature Preserve, Flat Rock Brook Nature Association, Girl Scouts Daisy Troop, Grand Falloons, Hackensack Meridian Hospital, Hackensack Riverkeeper, Hudson River Fishermen’s Association, Key Club, Leila’s Plants, Master Gardeners of Bergen County, Mosaic Lodge, Mosquito Control, Mr. Softee, Neighborhood Compost Team, NJ DEP Fish & Wildlife, NJ DEP Wildlife Mobile Education Trailer, PSE&G, Sea Turtle Recovery, Shade Tree Commission, Sustainable Ridgefield Park, Teaneck Creek Conservancy, Veolia, Wanda Canoe Club, Watershed Ambassador, Werf’s Bees
