Bergen County Players Present Sonheim’s “A Little Night Music” at Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell

The Bergen County Players, one of America’s longest-running community theater companies, closes its 92nd season with Stephen Sondheim’s Tony Award-winning musical, A Little Night Music. The production will run at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell, New Jersey, from May 3 through June 1.

Set in early 1900s Sweden, A Little Night Music humorously explores tangled relationships as past lovers reunite, passions reignite, and new romances begin. On a midsummer evening that “smiles three times,” a diverse group—including an aging actress, a naive married woman, a frustrated divinity student, a cynical lawyer, and a pompous Count—find themselves amusingly caught up in romantic complications.

Inspired by Ingmar Bergman’s 1955 comedy, Smiles of a Summer Night, Sondheim turns the original story into a smart and entertaining musical about love and human folly. With Sondheim’s score composed entirely in waltz rhythm, the show includes memorable songs like the famous “Send in the Clowns.”

The show runs on Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 pm and on Sundays at 2:00. There will be no performances on Memorial Day Weekend (May 23-25).
