“Behind the Curtain” Bergen County Players Open House (10am-4pm)

Ever wonder what happens beyond the stage lights? Bergen County Players is inviting the public to find out during Behind the Curtain, a free open house taking place Saturday, May 16, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the historic Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell.

Bergen County Players will open its doors for a day of performances, backstage tours, interactive theater experiences and the reveal of its upcoming 2026-27 season.

“This event is a love letter to the community that has supported us for nearly a century,” said Alyson Cohn, President of Bergen County Players. “By opening our doors and pulling back the curtain, we’re not just celebrating our history and the incredible talent returning to our stage; we’re inviting our neighbors to see the magic and hard work that happens off-stage. Whether you’re a long-time subscriber or a first-time visitor, we want you to feel the heartbeat of this theater before we unveil the thrilling stories we have in store for our next season.”

A Musical Homecoming

Highlights include two special Mainstage Concerts at noon and 3:00 pm, featuring original Bergen County Players performers returning to reprise memorable songs from productions spanning the past 35 years.

Backstage Tours

Visitors can also take guided backstage tours and hear stories about the theater’s firehouse origins (including a few ghost legends).

The “Backstage Pass” Experience

Go on a Scavenger Hunt through the theater’s hidden corners, including the wardrobe room, lighting booth, and set shop. Participants who complete the challenge will be entered into a raffle to win tickets to the upcoming 2026-27 season.

Interactive stations include:

• Costume photo opportunities
• Mini masterclasses in auditioning, choreography and set design
• Improv games for all ages

The Big Reveal & Insider Perks

At 3:30 pm, the company will unveil its new season lineup of comedies, dramas and more during its official 2026-27 Season Launch.

Guests can also enjoy complimentary refreshments in the lounge and take advantage of special one-day box office discounts.

Founded in 1932, Bergen County Players has long been a cornerstone of North Jersey’s arts scene, and this free event offers a rare chance to experience the theater from the inside out.
