With local animal shelters facing a severe capacity crisis this summer, Dr. Ohad Barnea and his team are opening their clinic doors for a unique, intentional community experience. On Saturday, June 20, 2026, the signature 4Paws event—envisioned by Dr. Barnea as a meaningful way to bring neighbors together—will take place simultaneously at his two neighborhood hubs: Tenafly Veterinary Center in Tenafly and Overpeck Creek Animal Hospital in Bogota.
Stepping away from the chaotic atmosphere of a large festival, Dr. Barnea designed these events to be smaller, more intimate, and deeply purposeful gatherings. The experience is crafted for both current pet parents and prospective adopters to connect deeply with local rescue advocates, meet neighbors, and access trusted pet-wellness guidance in a relaxed setting.
“Whether you are looking to expand your fur-family or just want to celebrate the pets you already have, this is a space for you,” said Dr. Ohad Barnea. “We wanted to create a warm, intentional environment where the community can gather, catch up with neighbors, and get their ultimate dose of pure joy by surrounding themselves with puppies, kittens, and fellow animal lovers. It’s a feel-good day with a massive purpose.”
By hosting the gatherings directly at Dr. Barnea’s neighborhood veterinary facilities, current dog and cat owners will have the unique opportunity to chat one-on-one with expert medical teams, asking questions about everything from summer safety to behavioral wellness.
The 4Paws experience at both locations will feature:
- An Intimate Adoption Space: A relaxed, thoughtful environment to meet adorable, adoptable puppies, kittens, and adult dogs from premier regional rescue groups without the pressure of a crowded festival. On-site counselors will be available to chat through foster and adoption pathways.
- Community Connection & Giveaways: A welcoming space to mingle with neighbors, complete with exciting raffles, door prizes, and special gift bags for attendees and their pets.
- Pet Owner Education Circles: One-on-one time with the medical teams at Tenafly Veterinary Center and Overpeck Creek Animal Hospital for expert, tailored advice on summer pet care, nutrition, and preventative health.
- The “Give-Back” Element: A curated selection of local pet-centric vendors and family-friendly activities, with proceeds directly benefiting participating non-profit rescue organizations.
The community is warmly invited to bring their families out to either location on Saturday, June 20th, to support a vital cause, learn something new, win great prizes, and share a joyful day with local pet lovers.
