Craft and Antique Shows in the Bergen County Area!

The mybergen.com audience loves these events, and it’s easy to understand why! Craft shows allow small businesses and individual artisans to showcase their creativity and unique one-of-a-kind items while providing attendees with a lively community atmosphere and a fun social event.

The food at street fairs and craft shows can range from classic festival staples to gourmet fare with everything in-between! But there’s almost always something yummy to satisfy everyone.

Planning on Attending a Street Fair or Craft Show? How to Do It Right!

Bergen County area residents are ready to enjoy all that regional street fairs and craft shows have to offer. With this in mind, we suggest the following tips to help make your day at a local street fair, craft, or antique show as fun and productive as possible! These tips apply to events happening across all seasons.

  • Do your pre-event research: Find out what vendors will participate and what types of items they sell. Most promoters will share this information on their website or social media pages and update as more vendors sign on to participate.
  • Prepare a shopping list: That’s right! Sure, you’ll come across all sorts of unexpected items for sale, but regional antique and craft shows are a great place for gift shopping and may help you get a jump on your holiday shopping or perhaps find that one-of-a-kind birthday gift for that friend who has everything.
  • Confirm event dates and hours: Street fairs and events sometimes run for more than one day, and the hours may change from day to day. Also, event hours can sometimes change year-over-year, so don’t assume that the hours will be the same as last year. The mybergen.com Events Calendar also features dates and hours for most of the region’s leading street fairs and craft shows.
  • Scope out parking in advance: Many Bergen County area street fairs and art, craft & antique shows attract massive crowds. With event popularity comes parking challenges! Confirm where the local parking is located. If you plan on local street parking, make sure you’re not parking in a restricted area. Nothing takes the fun out of a day trip faster than a parking ticket!
  • Get there early! Parking will be more accessible if you arrive at the very start of the day, and you’ll also be in a better position to find that actual one-of-a-kind item before someone else scoops it up.
  • Consider bringing cash and credit cards: Most vendors accept both, but best be prepared for all possibilities!
  • Research what food and beverages are available for sale and plan accordingly: You may be there for hours, and you’re going to get hungry! It’s also super-important to stay hydrated, even if the weather seems relatively cool.
  • If it’s an outdoor event in spring or summer, wear sunscreen and cover up from the sun’s harmful rays! ‘Nuff said!
  • Wear sensible shoes! This is a big one! You’ll be getting in your steps for sure, and you’ll want to make sure your feet, legs, and back are not aching at day’s end! Wear your most comfortable walking shoes or sneakers.
  • What about the kids? Many street fairs are family affairs, while some craft and antique shows may not be ideal for the kiddies. A whining child can make for a long day and lead to early departure, and you don’t want that! If you plan to bring a young child, confirm whether or not strollers are permitted.
