The Bergen County Historical Society invites you to Pinkster, a Jersey Dutch Celebration welcoming spring, on Sunday, May 18, from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM at Historic New Bridge Landing, located at 1201 Main Street, River Edge, New Jersey.
Here’s what you can expect at this family-fun day:
- Maypole dances by The Tricorne Dance Ensemble (Children are invited to join in)
- 18th-century dances, accompanied by Ridley and Anne Enlsow playing the fiddle and hammered dulcimer.
- Muriel Roberts will present and pour a ceremonial libation honoring ancestors, following African traditions that emphasize remembering those who came before us.
- Marty Campanelli will present a lecture, “This Work of Mine the World May View,” about New Jersey samplers created from the late 1700s through the mid-1800s.
- Tours of the historic 1752 Steuben House
- Broom-making, blacksmith, and cooking demonstrations
- Refreshments including donuts and lemonade available for purchase in the tavern, and the gift shop will be open.
- Family activities including a take-home craft project, colonial games, and the Society’s QR Code-based History Scavenger Challenge

It’s a fun, outdoor event and a great spot to find unique gifts, home décor, and one-of-a-kind items.
Come and browse the booths filled with a wonderful selection of pottery, jewelry, garden décor, bonsai, watercolors, florals, apparel, fiber, stained glass, bonsai, ceramics, charcuterie boards and birdhouses. Also, hand woven baskets, carpet bags, dried flower jewelry and décor, paintings, prints, photography, paper tole, wind chimes, stained glass, turned wood bowls, resin art, sports clocks, olive oils and so much more.
