Chocolada Chocolate Boutique and Café Opens in Ho-Ho-Kus

Chocolada is located at 14 North Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus

A new specialty chocolate shop and café has opened in Ho-Ho-Kus, bringing a selection of artisan chocolates from around the world to 14 North Franklin Turnpike.

Chocolada, which opened this fall, combines a retail chocolate boutique with a European-inspired café. Its collection includes bean-to-bar chocolates from independent makers in the United States and abroad, along with artisanal bonbons, small-batch confections and chocolate gift boxes.

The café menu features European-style drinking chocolate, specialty cacao beverages, espresso, house-made cookies, gelato and light breakfast and lunch options, including tartines served on cacao bread.

A Shop Built Around the Art of Chocolate

Chocolada was founded by Maria, whose interest in European café culture and fine chocolate inspired the new business. According to the company’s website, she completed professional training in chocolate tasting, including the study of cacao origins, flavor profiles and sensory evaluation.

The shop is designed around the concept of a “chocolate library,” with an emphasis on introducing customers to different varieties of cacao, chocolate-making traditions and the work of independent chocolatiers.

Chocolada also plans to offer guided tastings and small events. A cacao-focused gathering is scheduled for Sunday, November 8, featuring sipping chocolate, a bonbon sampler and a discussion of different ways to use and enjoy cacao.

Chocolada is located at 14 North Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey.
