Wayne Democratic Club presents: The Hidden Network Behind the NJ School Board Battles

The Wayne NJ Democratic Club is pleased to announce the featured speaker for our April 28, 2026 club meeting: Michael Gottesman—retired attorney, Wayne resident, Founder of the New Jersey Public Education Coalition (NJPEC), Community Liaison for Defense of Democracy, Director of Communication for the Energizing Young Voters initiative and a longtime public education advocate.
Program title: The Hidden Network Behind the New Jersey School Board Battles: A look at the national, state, and local attacks on public education.
This presentation takes you behind the scenes to identify the organizations, strategies, and funding pipelines behind a coordinated effort to de-fund and destabilize public education, while injecting religious and political ideology into our schools.
Mr. Gottesman will discuss how the Wayne Board of Education, and other boards throughout New Jersey, are already being influenced by outside groups, and what that influence could mean for students, families, and our community.
He will also discuss why it is imperative that you consider a run for your local board of education now and what free training and resources are available for you as a candidate to assist you in your campaign.
