DESCRIPTION:St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Closter\, New Jersey\, has announced the return of Tomas Rodriguez\, as part of its “2026-2027 Concert & Lecture Series” on Sunday\, October 4\, 2026 at 3:00 pm.  W \nMr. Rodriguez will be introducing his all new album of his original compositions. Mr. Rodriguez\, a New York City based guitarist has developed a unique repertoire that is rooted in his ancestry and guided by the diverse styles of music that have inspired him. These include the folk music of Galicia\, Spain\, and the music of Venezuelan harp masters. Informed by this broad palette\, Rodriguez’ own compositions display an engaging groove\, touching harmonies and a mesmerizing exploration of the guitar’s rich background in the music of Africa and the Americas. \nBorn in Washington D.C. of a Spanish father and a mother from the Appalachian region of Virginia\, Rodriguez grew up in New York\, New Jersey and Idaho. As a child he was inspired by his father’s eclectic record collection\, which included Frank Sinatra\, Beethoven\, the Venezuelan harpist Juan Vicente Torrealba and Latin crooner Lucho Gatica.  As a teen\, he learned to play electric guitar by ear from Jimi Hendrix records\, and went on to study classical guitar with Sharon Isbin at the Manhattan School of Music. \nA dedicated music educator\, Rodriguez runs a unique honors-level guitar program for young people in Brooklyn\, NY\, using African\, Latin\, Flamenco\, Jazz and Classical styles to teach beginners to advanced students. He founded and directed an innovative after-school guitar program at one of New York’s largest Latino social service organizations\, utilizing music from Latin America and Spain to teach basic guitar skills. He is also a registered Suzuki guitar instructor and has also taught at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. \nThe concert is free to everyone with a $10 donation suggested.  A wine and cheese reception follows the concert with an opportunity to meet and greet the artist.  If you have not experienced Tomas in concert\, you are in for a real treat. \nSt. Paul’s is located at 171 Closter Dock Road in Closter\, New Jersey\, and is wheelchair accessible. DESCRIPTION:Town Criers are seeing a cultural revival!  \nTowns in the U.S. and U.K. appoint ceremonial criers—like Fair Lawn\, New Jersey’s Tim Yuskaitis—to ring bells\, shout “Oyez\, oyez\, oyez!”\, and boost local heritage\, tourism\, and community engagement \nNow the Fair Lawn Revolution 250 Committee is taking the Town Crier a step further by holding both a Town Crier Competition and a Junior Town Crier Program/Competition on Sunday\, October 4\, 2026 in front of Fair Lawn Borough Hall. \nAward winning Town Crier Tim Yuskaitis is leading the call to educate youngsters on the history of the Town Crier as well as how to perfect the Town Crier call. \nTown Criers date back to medieval and colonial times where they shared news\, laws and more with often illiterate populations. Each had a “cry” which often started with an Old Frenchy word “oyez” (“here ye” or listen” and ending with a royal or civil solute. \nTown Criers wore 18-century livery (or regalia) including tri-corne hats\, waistcoats and breeches. The huge handbell is a staple of Town Criers. \nThe Fair Lawn Junior Town Crier Competition is the first of its kind and will include students grades K-12. \n

DESCRIPTION:Few Bands in the history of Rock N’ Roll have ever incited the love\, the hate\, the raw emotional effect that W.A.S. P. has had on the world\nFrom the very beginning\, in the small venues of Los Angeles California\, and later to the numerous countries worldwide that banned these Winged Assassins from performing live\, the Band’s unique style of Shock and Rock caused Religious organizations\, Local City Councils\, Parliaments\, and the Washington D.C. Senate to hold hearings in an effort to bar this group from selling records and trashing stages everywhere they played. \nW.A.S.P.’s founding member\, frontman Blackie Lawless\, has led the group as its lead vocalist and primary songwriter since its beginning. His unique brand of visual\, social and political comment took the group to worldwide heights and sold millions of records alongside a legacy of sold out shows across the globe for 4 decades.\n \nAbout KK’s Priest You can’t keep a heavy metal legend down… Although it’s been over a dozen years since guitarist and songwriter K.K. Downing departed Judas Priest\, the iconic band he co-founded and played with for 40 years\, he was never really going to retire. It was only a matter of time before he reclaimed the spotlight. As his new album title proclaims\, The Sinner Rides Again.\nK.K. Downing has had metal coursing through his veins from the beginning\, starting in the Midlands region of England where Judas Priest was born. He compellingly chronicled his life odyssey in his 2018 autobiography\, and his recent induction into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame further secures his legacy as a pioneering musician\, songwriter and guitarist. As a founding member of the classic Judas Priest line-up\, Downing helped lay the foundation for the heavy metal genre as a whole. His distinct style of playing is easily identifiable\, he was part of a six-string duo that complemented and contrasted each other\, and they would progress to new levels of excitement. He has taken that ethos and applied it to KK’s Priest with impassioned results. For Downing\, KK’s Priest is not just a statement of intent. It is a statement of being. His lifelong heavy metal saga continues.

The Street Fair is open rain or shine MUSIC Bands will be performing on the Cedar Street stage and there will be a DJ with games and activities at the other end of the street fair by Park Street. VENDORS We have quality exhibitors selling a selection of assorted items\, a special arts & crafts section\, live entertainment\, kiddie rides & games\, great festival foods & food trucks\, and so much more.  Don’t miss stopping by the many local merchants & civic organizations to see what goodies they are passing out between Union & Essex Streets.
