The event will take place on Thursday\, March 26\, 2026\, at 7:30 P.M. at the Harrington Park Borough Hall\, located at 85 Harriot Avenue.\n \nAs the nation commemorates its Semiquincentennial\, Mr. Schuber will present “George Washington in Bergen County\,” an in-depth look at the General’s pivotal role in local Revolutionary War history. The lecture focuses on the high-stakes 1776 retreat from Fort Lee\, where Washington utilized the “New Bridge” over the Hackensack River to evade British capture—a move that proved essential to the ultimate “Retreat to Victory.”\n \n“Bergen County was a crossroads of the Revolution\,” says the Historical Society. “Having Pat Schuber share his expertise on the 250th anniversary of these events brings our local history to life in a way that connects us directly to the birth of our nation.”\n \nAbout the Speaker\nWilliam (Pat) Schuber is an Assistant Professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s School of Administrative Science. A retired Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve\, Mr. Schuber is a prolific author and lecturer on military history\, leadership\, and ethics. His deep-rooted passion for American history and firsthand experience with global historical sites make him one of the region’s most engaging speakers.\n \nThe event is open to the public.
