The Valley Hospital Auxillary recently welcomed many new faces to learn more about this philanthropic group’s mission, accomplishments and future fundraising events.
About 30 people attended this membership cultivation event held at the Ridgewood Country Club, enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and mingled with members from many of the groups 15 branches, including Waldwick, Mahwah, Franklin Lakes, Saddle River, Allendale, Wyckoff, Glen Rock and Ridgewood. Brief presentations were made by Ann Swist, the President of the Auxiliary and Denise Downey, Vice President of Membership on the Central Board of the Auxiliary. They discussed the fun yet important work accomplished by the Auxiliary, and the threefold mission— to serve as community liaison for the hospital, to raise funds, and to assist the hospital through a variety of volunteer services.
The Valley Hospital Auxiliary’s current pledge of $1.5 million goes toward Valley Medical Group’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program and Valley Home Care’s endowment for the pediatric Butterflies program which is an in-home, pediatric palliative and hospice care program for seriously ill children.
Throughout its 70 year history, The Valley Hospital Auxiliary has raised more than $17 million in support of much-needed healthcare programs and services that have touched thousands of patients and their families. It consists of more than 1,500 members in 15 branches, and works to fulfill the three fold mission: to raise funds for special projects, provide volunteer service, and serve as community liaison.
