Students from the School of Rock after school music program in Tenafly performed at the CBGB Festival in New York on Saturday, October 11 and Sunday, October 12, 2014. The School’s House Band, which is comprised of some of its top musicians, performed at Center 548, a performance venue in Chelsea on October 11th. The House Band is comprised of the following Bergen County students:

• Gavin Caine (piano/guitar), Tenafly, 15

• Ethan Boras (drums), Northvale, 17

• Dakota Martin (drums), Englewood, 15

• Victoria Park (bass), Cresskill, 15

• Michael Baretz (guitar), Harrington Park, 15

• Cooper Boyd (guitar), Carlstadt, 14

• Kate Morales (vocals), Edgewater, 14

The School of Rock AllStars, a national touring band comprised of some of the premier School of Rock musicians from across the country, performed in Times Square on October 12th. AllStar members from the Tenafly school are:

The set performed by Tenafly’s House Band included The Dictators’ “Stay With Me”, The Velvet Underground’s “Pale Blue Eyes” and “I’m Stickin’ With You”, MC5’s “Ramblin’ Rose”, Billy Idol’s “White Wedding”, and Jobriath’s “World Without End”. The one-hour set performed by the AllStars included Patti Smith's "Because the Night", Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love", Queens of the Stone Age's "No One Knows", Lou Reed’s “Sweet Jane”, and the Jackson Sister's "I Believe In Miracles". “The School of Rock program is based on the idea of performance-based music education, and these student performances were superb examples of the effectiveness of this unique approach,” says School of Rock Tenafly General Manager Kathleen Ruscick. “Our teens got up in front of thousands of people, tore up the stage, and blew away the crowd. Their energy and confidence were off the charts. It was awesome to watch, and for the students, it was an unforgettable experience.”
