The connection between participation in dancing, acting or music lessons and the positive impact these lessons have on a child's success in school, emotional development, self-esteem and behavior, have been well documented. The physical benefits of dance are many, including grace, poise and exercise. Dance lessons teach different positions and steps, which utilize all parts of the body, as well as proper posture, body alignment and moving with the entire body to create a flow of movement. Acting and voice lessons can have a positive effect on communication skills and confidence. Working with scripts can help improve reading skills. Improvisation can help to develop a child's self expression and imagination. Singing requires access to a variety of emotions and can positively effect a child's self-expression.

Cresskill Performing Arts is the "triple threat" of regional performing arts schools, offering students of all ages and abilities the opportunity to experience a wide variety of dance classes, acting and improvisation classes, musical theater and voice. Constantly growing and evolving, this Cresskill, New Jersey studio is dedicated to meeting the needs of their students, from toddlers in "We Dance!" Mommy and Me classes all the way to adults.

The school offers all kinds of dance, with teachers who all work in the "business". A Cresskill Performing Arts teacher was recently nominated for a VMA (MTV Music Awards) for choreography, while another instructor recently performed on Letterman and Kimmel with Kiesza.

To make scheduling easier on parents, in many cases your child's voice or acting lesson can be scheduled just before or after his or her dance class.

Classes at the Cresskill Performing Arts Center are small with no more than 12 in a class. Younger children's classes do not exceed 10 students. The studio also offers Once Upon a Time and Creative Legos workshops. Once Upon a Time is a reading-readiness/acting/craft class offered on Saturday mornings for ages 4 - 7, under the direction of Elinor Goeller, a respected educator. Ms. Goeller's Creative Legos classes involve teamwork and problem-solving along with Lego building and fun.

Fencing is a part of the curriculum at Cresskill Performing Arts. Whether you are honing your skills for theatrical sword fighting in "Hamlet," or taking up competitive fencing for fun and exercise, the school's fencing masters can help. Both private and semi-private lessons are available in foil, epee, sabre, rapier, rapier & dagger, smallsword and more.
