The Bergen County Utilities Authority will be conducting Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collections through the rest of 2011. The events are free for Bergen County residents (proper ID is required).
All collection sites open (rain or shine) at 9:00 am and close promptly at 3:00 pm. Acceptable materials include: aerosol cans, anti-freeze, rechargeable batteries, mercury switches, propane gas cylinders, used motor oil, paints and varnishes, used oil filters, fluorescent light bulbs and insecticides.
Unacceptable materials for HHW collections include: alkaline batteries, medical waste, computers, electronics, tires, pressure-treated lumber, radioactive material, explosives and unlabeled waste containers.
