The Park Medical Group announced the addition of Dr. Julia Yu to its team of physicians, specialists and nurse practitioners. Dr. Yu, who has been practicing family medicine in Tenafly for over ten years, is experienced in the areas of natural medicine, wellness care and acupuncture.
'We are very pleased to have Dr. Yu join the Park Medical Group team," said Dr. Stephen Brunnquell, founder of The Park Medical Group and President of the Medical Staff at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center (EHMC). "Dr. Yu brings a distinct specialty to our practice with her training in acupuncture. The benefits of acupuncture are well documented for a variety of chronic diseases. We feel her treatments can be complimentary to all of our medical care services - and add a level of healing to our patients they may not otherwise achieve."
Dr. Yu's medical services will include traditional and natural medicine, and acupuncture for use in treating: weight loss; pain management; smoking cessation and addictions; allergies and asthma; headaches; migraines; anxiety and depression; digestion issues; women's health; physical exams; and, chronic medical concerns.
"It's wonderful to be a part of the great team of physicians at The Park Medical Group community," said Dr. Yu. "I have previously been practicing in Tenafly and I am excited to be reaching even more patients through the Park Medical Group practice."
Acupuncture has been used in medicine throughout the world for over 4,000 years. Acupuncture works by helping balance the body's circulation of blood and energy - called Qi (pronounced chee) - and improving that flow. Depending on a person's symptoms, anywhere from 12 or more needles are inserted into specific points on the body. Needles are approximately the width of a human hair and many patients feel very little sensation when they are inserted.
Natural Medicine and Wellness is just one of the many groups of services offered at The Park Medical Group. The practice, which has been helping people in the Northern Valley area for over 20 years, also offers physical therapy and a 5-part heart attack and stroke assessment test called Five to Thrive.
