The Bergen Youth Orchestra (BYO), the oldest youth orchestral organization in northern New Jersey, recently awarded Jacob Kallman of Franklin Lakes a scholarship generously funded and created by Seiji Shiraishi of Fort Lee, NJ. The scholarship reimburses Jacob his full tuition for the 2009-2010 season with the Bergen Youth Orchestra.
Jacob is a senior at Bergen County Academies and plays the (trumpet) in the Bergen Youth Orchestra. In the fall, he plans to attend The University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI.

Bergen Youth Orchestra is a not for profit organization committed to training serious young musicians who are capable of working in a professional manner. Orchestra members range in age from 12 to 18 and come from Bergen, Passaic and Rockland counties. Organized in 1968, BYO has performed under Music Director, Eugene Minor, in many distinguished venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall with the New York Philharmonic.
