Typically, 14 year olds might go on a class trip to Great Adventure, but the Tuxedo Park School Freshman Class recently visited the Great Wall. This class of seven students and two teachers returned early this month from their excursion to Beijing, Xi’an, and Shanghai, exhausted, but enthralled with China.
True to its goal of “preparing students to become thoughtful and productive citizens of our communities, our country, and the world,” Tuxedo Park School has developed a freshman curriculum designed to delve into Chinese culture, literature, history, and environment.
Understanding China’s government and culture as well as its contributions to the global economy and politics are a part of the school’s focus on preparing students to become citizens of the world.
