Nineteen girls and boys got a “taste” of what it’s like to work at Applebee’s for a day on “Take Your Daughters/Sons to Work Day,” a program hosted by Doherty Enterprises Inc. located in Allendale, NJ, a franchisee operating sixty-one Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar restaurants in northern and central New Jersey and on Long Island. In the morning, kids rolled up their sleeves and were put to work at Applebee’s in Paramus where they folded napkins, cleaned and set tables and filled salt and pepper shakers. In the kitchen, they met Applebee’s Assistant General Manager Lenin Medina who taught them about food safety and gave them a cooking demonstration. A taste testing followed with a nutritional lunch on Applebee’s. Back at Doherty Enterprises’ headquarters, kids spent the afternoon with their parents and learned about what their mom/dad does on the job at the corporate level. They also gained a perspective on the importance of why corporations, like Doherty Enterprises, give back to the community. Overall, it was a day of fun, educational and interactive activities.
