The Westwood, New Jersey Home for the Holidays Parade and holiday family fun events will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012.
The parade begins at 6:00 pm and will feature Santa, marching bands, holiday songs, famous characters, clowns, the Westwood Fire Department, Color Guard, Westwood Volunteer Emergency Services, the Westwood Community Band, the Westwood Jr/Sr High School Band, the Park Ridge High School Band, the Emerson High School Band and fifty (or more) local groups including your friends and neighbors representing their organizations and activities.
You won’t want to miss the fabulous floats and other surprises! Hot chocolate, hot cider and other treats will be available as well.
Don’t forget to cast your vote for the best float. Ballots are available at Irish Eyes, L & N Grand, Tyrell’s Florist, Westwood Pets, Westwood Gallery and other Westwood stores.
Here is a schedule of other Westwood Home for the Holidays events happening on December 1st:
5:00 pm-Story Time with Mrs. Claus at the Public Library (next to Veterans Park) for children 5 and under. The Library will be serving hot chocolate & cookies. The Jr. Friends of the Library will host a holiday activity for children 6 and older and there will be a little surprise for the children checking out books that evening!
6:00 pm-“Holiday Songs” begins at 5 Corners (Westwood Ave & Kinderkamack Rd) and continues down Westwood Ave to Veterans’ Park where Santa will greet the children individually at the Bandstand along with Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph!
7:30 - 8:30 pm-Santa and friends will host the Community Tree lighting after the parade. Santa will visit with and individually greet the boys and girls of Westwood following the official tree lighting and will have a surprise for each child!
7:30-9:00 pm-The Westwood Community Band will play at the Bandstand during Santa’s visit. Free rides around Veterans’ Park on the Trackless Train. Open House on Westwood Avenue. Merchants and friends will provide refreshments, music, hospitality, ‘Call Us Clowns’, stilt walkers, Daisy D. Dots and her Junior Joey Clowns, D.J. and much, more! Listen to the Zion Lutheran Handbell Choir on the steps of the Westwood Post Office. Come and Celebrate the start of the Holiday Season in grand style in Westwood.
